ISO 14001 Environmental standard recognition at Isover UK
Isover, the leading developer of sustainable insulation solutions to protect both the built environment and the natural environment, has achieved Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2004 certification at its Runcorn manufacturing site, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
The certification, which follows extensive external assessment by BSI Management Systems, will enable Isover to support customers further by allowing them to clearly demonstrate their use of sustainable construction products as advocated by the Green Guide, the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM.
Feedback received from external BSI assessors during the registration process was extremely positive and Isover was commended for displaying zero non-compliances throughout the process, with assessors acknowledging the high level of commitment displayed by the company throughout the audit and registration process.
Stacey Davis, marketing director for Saint-Gobain Isover, comments: "Sustainability is a vitally important factor when specifying products and this achievement will enable us to provide customers with further reassurance that Isover is operating to internationally recognised standards designed to minimise the impact of both our business and the products we manufacture on the environment."
The company's market-leading efficiency means less energy is used in the manufacturing process and the use of Isover insulation helps to reduce emissions over the long term. Over a typical 50 year lifespan of a building Isover insulation will save 300 tonnes of CO2, which equates to over 375 times more CO2 than is needed for its manufacture. Products also boast ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and GWP (Global Warming Potential) ratings of zero. It has recently launched its 3 Point Plan for environmental sustainability, to ensure that Isover and its products, in manufacture and when in-situ, use less materials, less energy and produce less emissions.
